Tour Description
We come and pick you up at your hotel or apartment at the time you prefer and drive you in a comfortable air-con car or van, depending on the size of your group, to the Tiger Kingdom, in Mae Rim, about 15 kilometers from the city. Once there, you will be able to get in touch with the category of tigers you have selected during booking. There are 4 possibilities: small (you must be over 155cm and children must be with an adult), medium (you must be over 15 and 155cm tall), big and giant tigers (over 18 and over 160cm tall).
Newborn tigers can be bottle fed if you visit them at the right time. There often are newborn tigers but if they are sleeping or have just been fed when you arrive, you won’t be able to feed them.
When you are finished at the Tiger Kingdom temple, we can take you if you wish to all of the other attractions of the area (Mae Sa Valley) at no extra cost. Please note that entrance tickets for the other attractions are not included in the tour.
More information about the Tiger Kingdom
There is perhaps nothing more fascinating than playing with free unchained tigers, bottle feeding their young ones and running around with them. You just not always get a chance to indulge, play and do whatever you want to do with baby tigers and even grown up ones. Located 15 km North of Chiang Mai (Thailand), it is a heaven for children to play in and a treat for tiger lovers to see tigers that close which they had not even thought of. Spending a chunk of time here is a memory for life.
Getting to the Tiger Kingdom from Chiang Mai with us is easy as you just have to tell us the time you want us to pick you up at your hotel. Keep in mind the visiting hours, as they are from 09:00a.m to 06:00p.m daily. You can hire a photographer who will take care of the photography for you and will let you spend time with more freedom. The tigers are nonviolent as they have been raised in the Tiger Kingdom since they were small cubs. So you don’t actually have to be afraid of them at all. Still, a professional team is assigned to every group of visitors to avoid the possibility of any unwanted incident. You are allowed to spend 15 minutes per age group at one cage. A normal round trip will take not more than 3 hours.
The tigers are kept perfectly normal and healthy without being given tranquilizers or any other drugs to keep them peaceful. The environment at Chiang Mai’s Tiger Kingdom is safe and ecologically sustainable. Sustainable as in it does not pose any risk to other animal species, people living in the vicinity and to tigers too. If you ever planned of playing with tigers and seeing their grace in person, Tiger Kingdom is the perfect place for you.
Chiang Mai tiger kingdom basically is a nursery for tigers, where they are bred and taken care of. It is to conserve tigers so they’re raised kind of in captivity here. It’s a pity to see them caged but to protect them from extinction, there’s no other option left but to treat them this way. At the Tiger Kingdom; researchers, students, children and other wildlife lovers get a chance to see and interact with tigers in person and hence developing love and concerns for them. It makes people want to protect tigers even more due to which they play their part in protecting them by making other people aware, try to stop activities that are a threat to them and are even willing to pay for their conservation.
Thinking of tiger-less jungles and zoos, it hurts us. But if their population is not saved from risks like illegal hunting, habitat fragmentation, anthropogenic activities and climate change, a day will come when tigers will be history. Threats to tigers and other threatened species could be minimized if we stop encroachments upon nature and the wild.
Tiger Kingdom is aiding in the purpose of conservation by protecting tigers and breeding them. Who knows, there might be a day when young ones could be released and set free into the wild. Though not many places on earth now are perfectly suitable for tigers to inhabit but still it is worth giving a try. As their population in the wild is on a decline and day by day they are decreasing with an alarming rate, not more than 3,200 tigers breathe freely in the wild today.
Conserving tigers by caging them might not be the ideal way but until they are able to grow safely in the wild, it is the only possible way. Chiang Mai Tiger Kingdom not only strives to protect tigers but also brings awareness in people about the safety of wildlife.
