Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
Upon your arrival at the Chiang Mai International Airport, you’ll be greeted and transferred to your hotel. You’ll then enjoy some leisure time until the evening. It’s then time to savor a Khantoke Dinner and enjoy the Northern Thai Cultural Show that is included with it (not applicable if you arrive on a night flight).
Day 2: Doi Suthep & City Tour
After breakfast at your hotel, your guide takes you on a visit to the Doi Suthep Temple, the most famous temple in Chiang Mai. From the top of Doi Suthep, contemplate the panoramic views of the town and enjoy the cool air. It’s then time to embark for a cruise on Mae Ping River through Chiang Mai city and suburbs. With constantly changing settings, it will be difficult to get bored even for a second. After about 1 hour you arrive at the Farmer’s House, where all sorts of vegetables are grown. Visit the area and have lunch on the river bank. You then take the boat back to Warorot Market, the oldest and main market in the city. Your guide will take you through the stalls of this massive market where you’ll observe an astonishing variety of local food, fruits, vegetables, clothes, etc. It’s time to take a seat in a rickshaw for a ride through Muang Mai Market, a wholesale market where all the farmers come and sell their products along the streets. The day continues with a visit to Wat Chedi Luang and it’s superb Pagoda, once the largest building in Lanna. In order to relax after this day of visits, your guide will take you for an hour relaxing traditional or oil massage before driving you back to your hotel.
Day 3: Doi Inthanon National Park
After breakfast, your guide takes you to Doi Inthanon National Park, around 100km south of Chiang Mai. You’re first stop is at Wachirathan Waterfall. The trip continue to a coffee farm located in a Karen Village. Enjoy a complimentary fresh coffee before going for a 2 hour mini trek through the beautiful sceneries. Along the way the local guide will show you medicinal plants and more. You’ll soon reach a nice and refreshing waterfall where you take a rest before finishing the hike. After lunch drive to the highest point in Thailand at 8415 ft. Enjoy the Ang Ka Nature Trail, a 400m walk through a unique ecosystem. It’s time to drive to the Twin Pagodas from which you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views and beautiful gardens. On the way back to Chiang Mai you stop at a hilltribe market. Day 4: 1 Day Elephant Care
Live an unforgettable adventure with the most personal and authentic experience possible with elephants. You’ll be picked up at 07.30 at your hotel to head to a remote and authentic hill tribe Karen Village, home to 6 elephants who are part of the community. They are extremely well treated and considered with the highest respect. You’ll be taught how to take care of an elephant, how to feed him, to bath him etc. and you’ll share some very special moments with one of these giants. You’ll have plenty of time to interact, ride and play with them. The camp takes only a very limited number of tourists per day and you’ll really enjoy being part of the Karen community for one day. At midday a very copious traditional Karen lunch will be served before you carry on with the activities. You’ll go back to your hotel at around 17.00 and you’ll have a DVD of photos and videos to show your friends back home the amazing day you had.
Day 5: Chiang Rai & Golden Triangle
You leave your hotel at 07.30 with your guide to hit the road towards Chiang Rai. You’ll do a first stop at Mae Kajan hot spring and then continue to the White Temple for a detailed visit. You’ll be amazed by this incredible piece of art. Your next stop is at Choui Fong Tea Farm, a tea plantation covering more than 1000 rais (1 rai=1600sqm) on the hills. The tour continue to the Golden Triangle where lunch is taken. You’ll enjoy the views from the view point dominating the Golden Triangle with Laos and Burma in front of you. Embark for a private boat trip on Mekong River with a stop at a Lao Market before driving to a Hilltribe Village with Long Neck Women. It’s time to drive back to Chiang Mai where you’ll arrive at around 21.00.
Day 6: Departure
Time at leisure. Transfer to Chiang Mai International Airport.
